Cassis Bistro is a cute little French restaurant near the Shaganappi golf course. There is a parkade in the building that my friend parked in, while I found a spot on the side street. With classic movies projected onto the back wall, you can keep yourself entertained if your company is running late. The tables and chairs are stylish yet comfortable, and our server was super friendly and knowledgable about the dishes we had to choose from. As is typical these days, I did find the tables were too close together and the small tables are right up against the wall, leaving you with no elbow room. We were there on the last day of the winter menu and I look forward to trying some lighter dishes this summer.
The decor is very well thought out, modern yet original. The staff are very friendly however they could use a bit more servers. The appetizers came late due to a mixup, again probably because they are understaffed. The food was delicious, could have been a bit more rich in flavour. It would have been nice to get bread and butter right at the beginning as we waited for the appetizers. The plating was very original and impressive. Overall, a very good higher end place to dine.
The scallop and risotto was definitely the star of the night. It was so delicious, creamy, yet refreshing with the citrus notes. The chips with the Tartare was crispy and fresh. The duck confit was a little too salty for my taste but the gnocchi that paired with it was really good.
